Adolescents between the ages of 11-21 struggle with many complex and confusing issues. Self-image, peer pressure, identity development, sexuality, substance abuse, and bullying are just some of the many areas that promote stress and anxiety in our youth today.

As your child navigates the ups and downs of adolescence, you may feel like you are lost and confused, as well as frustrated!  I work together with parents and their teens to improve communication, and develop realistic expectations for appropriate behaviors.  I will help you learn to "pick your battles" and design reasonable consequences for undesirable behaviors in your teen.

Therapy offers your adolescent a safe place to express both "typical" and extreme frustration, anger and disappointment.  The right therapist can help a troubled youth develop trust in adults as well as compassion for oneself and others.   My approach with adolescents is genuine and direct.  I use humor, structure and compassion to guide my clients to identify individual strengths and areas that "need improvement".    In time, adolescents can learn to trust themselves and make responsible decisions and healthy choices that lead to a productive and successful entry into adulthood.
